In case you missed it…

I scan technorati on a daily basis for the tags of Domino & Sharepoint… I won’t comment on them all, to be sure, but hey, I’m just getting started here and having fun writing. So here you go…
Today, I hit this little post:

The post itself is uber-minimal. As are the comments at the time of this writing.
But start following the links back to the previous blog entries. It will take you back a few months to a number of discussions on Notes vs. Sharepoint. Mostly from the Notes viewpoint, but still interesting reads, if you did not see them this past summer.
For my part, I maintain that both systems serve a purpose. Notes is the more mature and flexible product, but Sharepoint integrates nicely with other MS technologies.
But the question posed in the link above is really a critical question for an organization — what DOES make Notes so good at workflow? And what makes SharePoint good? Where do they intersect? What kinds of workflow would lead you in one direction vs. the other?
On second thought, is that really what matters? Do these questions help an organization decide on a technology platform, or are there larger issues at stake. Is the workflow equivalent enough that orgs will look to other factors when making decisions?
Lots of questions, but I don’t have answers today. I hope as I go forward learning the MS technologies, doing another migration, and writing here, I’ll come up with answers over time.
